Berry Law Firm is pleased to announce that David Tarrell is joining the Firm in June, 2018. Dave has been a champion of his clients’ interests in many practice areas, and at Berry Law Firm, he will be focusing on DUI defense, sex crimes defense, white collar crimes, and drug crimes.
David Tarrell has been a criminal defense lawyer in Nebraska for the last 18 years, representing thousands of clients in federal and state courts in areas ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex federal drug conspiracies. He also has vast appellate experience, appearing numerous times before the Nebraska Court of Appeals and the Nebraska Supreme Court. He has also pursued post conviction remedies in both state and federal court. Additionally, Mr. Tarrel has argued and been appointed in criminal appeals before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Since 2011, Dave has been licensed in Iowa and has gained much experience on the Southern District’s Federal CJA panel there as well as on the Federal CJA panel in Nebraska.
Dave is dedicated to helping people accused by the government protect their liberty and fight for their rights in the courtroom. He started his criminal defense career off at the Douglas County Public Defenders Office in 2000, gaining vast experience in the courtroom. In 2003, he was awarded a scholarship to attend the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia. Two years later, in 2005, he was awarded another scholarship to attend the 3-week Trial Skills Institute at Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in DuBois, Wyoming. Shortly after that, Dave was elected to Trial Lawyers’ College’s F Warrior Alumni Board where he served a two-year term. He draws much of his inspiration from these teachings and has returned to Trial Lawyers College for several week-long graduate training sessions since that time.
Additionally, Dave is active in the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and is currently the President of the NCDAA, which is dedicated to educating and uniting criminal defense attorneys across the state. He is also a member of the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD) and will be attending a seminar at Harvard University in the Summer of 2018 to gain even more training to successfully defend people accused of DUI in Nebraska and Iowa.
Dave not only loves to practice law, he also loves to write and graduated from Kearney State College with a B.A. in English in 1991 and from the University of Warwick in Coventry, England in 1993 with a Master of Arts degree. He has published articles in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers magazine, The Champion, as well as Trial Lawyers College’s magazine, The Warrior. In his spare time, Dave enjoys being a parent to his two daughters as well as fishing, hunting and kayaking.
