About Founding Attorney John Stevens Berry, Sr.

John Stevens Berry, Sr. attended Stanford University (B.A. 1960) and Northwestern University (J.D. 1965). He is a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and past president of the Nebraska Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He has attended both the Infantry Officers' Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, and the Judge Advocate General's Course at Charlottesville, Virginia. As a captain in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Berry authored Those Gallant Men, a book about his first-hand experiences as a lawyer fighting in a combat zone. His journeys included defending members of the 5th Special Forces against murder charges. The memoir was chosen Book of the Month by the Military Book Club. He also published The Twelfth Victim, a book about the unjust murder trial and conviction of Caril Fugate during the infamous Starkweather murders in Nebraska.

Attorney John Stevens Berry, Sr. has represented clients in complex criminal defense cases in more than 24 states in the U.S. and across international waters in two foreign countries. For more than a decade, Berry maintained a local radio show while practicing law. "The John Stevens Berry Show" first aired on KLIN and then on KZUM.
